indicators; Student Ambassadors - Brief Article - Statistical Data Included

American Demographics, March, 2000 by John Fetto

As thousands of students embark on spring break this month, many will be packing their passports. According to Mediamark Research Inc., the most popular destinations for student travel abroad include Western Europe - 14 percent of all 18-to-24-year-old full-time students have been there - Central America or Mexico (8.9 percent), and the Caribbean (6.5 percent).

Among the locales visited the least are the Middle East, Australia, and South America. Thirty-three percent of full-time college students between 18 and 24 own a valid U.S. passport and 31 percent have made at least one trip outside the country in their lifetime.
