Don't let the name fool you: We at American Demographics are not as single-minded as our name implies. To prove it, we're dedicating this page to our friends beyond the Land of the Brave. In getting to know our neighboring countrymen, we discovered some interesting bet-you-didn't-know facts. For instance, south of our border, 34 percent of all Mexicans are under the age of 15, according to the United Nations Statistics Division. That means more than a third of the nation's residents were born after the Mario Brothers saved their first princess. Talk about a Baby Boom. And anyone who thought that all Canadians spoke either English or French have it wrong. In fact, almost 3 percent of Canadians speak Chinese - the country's third most-spoken language, according to Statistics Canada, the Canuck's equivalent of our Census Bureau. For comparison, less than 1 percent of the U.S. population speaks Chinese (0.57 percent); ranking 5th. Interesting, eh?
