It's no secret that teenagers have a language all their own. But cracking their vernacular can be a mighty task for grown-up marketers and advertisers looking to connect with this highly desired consumer group. To identify the latest additions to the teen lexicon, American Demographics teamed up with New York City-based youth research firm The Discovery Group, and asked some 200 young New Yorkers for help. Here's a sampling of words and phrases East Coast kids ages 11 to 17 say are the most popular in teen-speak today.
