Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedYou've Got Resumes - employers increasingly prefer electronic resumes - Brief Article
American Demographics, Jan, 2001 by Gerda Gallop-Goodman
Job seekers who e-mail their resumes to employers may be doing more than just saving on postage. They may have an advantage over the competition. According to a survey by OfficeTeam, an online job search company, the number of hiring managers who prefer to receive resumes electronically has shot up 44 percentage points in just two years. Nearly half of the executives surveyed (48 percent) prefer the e-mail route over the postman's pouch. Perhaps the speed with which information is delivered is making people more decisive: In 1998, 64 percent of respondents had no preference in how they received a job candidate's curriculum vitae. By 2000, just 19 percent expressed similar sentiments. What's next? Perhaps cyber interviews.
