Chinese Yellow Pages - NYNEX to supply New York City with Yellow Pages using the Chinese language

American Demographics, Oct, 1997 by Shannon Dortch

Baby bell NYNEX is publishing Chinese-language Yellow Pages for New York City, according to The Wahlstrom Report. The company plans to distribute 80,000 copies of the new directory to households and businesses in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn.

China supplies the third-greatest number of immigrants each year to New York City, after the Dominican Republic and the former Soviet Union. Between 1990 and 1994, almost 60,000 natives of China settled in New York, according to the city's Department of City Planning. During that period, more than one in ten international migrants to New York were Chinese.
