Internal Auditor, Dec, 2004 by Sardari L. Agarwal
I was very disappointed at the low salary levels of chief audit executives (CAEs) in the United States ("A Good Time to be an Internal Auditor," June 2004). In a country where The IIA is headquartered and therefore has a very high public image, it is surprising.
What are the comparable salaries of the chief financial officer (CFO)? Here in India, the institute has been emphasizing the need for the internal audit chief to be at par with the CFO. Already, in many top Indian companies, the chief of audit enjoys salaries at par with the CFO. It seems to be that the respect for the audit function in the United States has yet not taken root.
