Internal auditor joins PCAOB Advisory Group

Internal Auditor, Dec, 2007 by T. McCollum

AN INTERNAL AUDITOR IS among the new members appointed to the PCAOB's Standing Advisory Group for 2008. Warren E. Malmquist, vice president, global internal audit and ethics with Molson Coors Brewing Co. in Denver, and a member of The IIA's Executive Committee, will serve a two-year term beginning in January.

The Standing Advisory Group advises the PCAOB on the establishment of audit and related professional practice standards. It consists of experts in accounting, auditing, corporate finance, corporate governance, and investing. Thomas Ray, the PCAOB's chief auditor and director of professional standards, chairs the group, which meets three times a year.

Malmquist brings 25 years of internal audit experience to the Standing Advisory Group. At Molson Coors, he has initiated management risk-assessed planning, developed the company's ethics program, and directed internal control over financial reporting for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Malmquist joins Howard J. Johnson, retired vice president of internal audit with Lowe's Companies Inc., as internal auditors in the group.
