Invest in America Week Highlights Two Nevada Foreign Direct Investment Companies

CARSON CITY, Nev., May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- United States Department of Commerce, Nevada Congressional delegates, state officials and foreign dignitaries will participate in Invest in America events on Monday, May 5, 2008, in Las Vegas and Carson City. Nevada is one of 17 states nationwide to hold Invest in America Week activities.
According to the United States Department of Commerce, the U.S. is the world's largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI). In 2007 alone, the U.S. received $199 billion through FDI.
In the U.S., more than five million Americans work for companies headquartered overseas.
FDI impacts the U.S. economy in a variety of ways.

-- It increases U.S. exports
-- It strengthens U.S. manufacturing and services
-- It brings in new research, technology and skills
-- It contributes to rising U.S. productivity
In Nevada
According to the Nevada Commission on Economic Development:
-- Investment in property, plant and equipment by foreign companies tops
$7.23 billion.
-- FDI supports more than 30,000 jobs for Nevadans in the Silver State.
-- At last official count, 7,300 of those jobs for Nevadans are in
manufacturing.
-- Japan has the highest number of individual foreign-owned companies in
Nevada.
-- Other countries providing jobs for Nevadans through their facilities
here are; Canada, the United Kingdom and France.
-- Australia and the Netherlands also provide jobs for Nevadans through
their operations in our state.
Southern Nevada Invest in America Event
JCM Global Corporation, 925 Pilot Rd, Las Vegas will host the morning Invest in America event in Las Vegas Monday, May 5 with U.S. Department of Commerce, representatives of the Nevada Congressional delegation, Nevada state dignitaries and the Consul General of Japan, Yasumasa Nagamine (pronounced Yaw-sue-maw-saw Naw-gaw-mee-nay) starting at 9 a.m. A 9:15 a.m. facility tour will be followed by official remarks beginning at 9:45 a.m.

Northern Nevada Invest In America Event
Taiyo (pronounced Tie-yo) America, 2675 Antler Drive in Carson City will be the site of the afternoon event and will host a U.S. Department of Commerce representative, representatives of the Nevada Congressional Delegation and Nevada state officials.
Taiyo America, a Japanese owned manufacturer of coatings for circuit boards based in Carson City, has invested more than $4 million in Nevada. It has 41 Nevada employees with an annual payroll of $3.3 million.
The Northern Nevada event will begin at 3 p.m. with a meeting with the facility manager and company representatives. A tour of the facility will follow at 3:15 p.m. with official remarks scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m.
