Want a Loan?
New Mexico Business Journal, July, 2000
The New Mexico Community Development Loan Fund has about a million bucks more available to businesses at below-market rates. That's because it recently received grants from Catholic Health Initiatives, Denver ($750,000) and the Treasury Department ($250,000), which has put the organization's loan pool at $9 million, the highest ever.
The Fund makes business loans for equipment, inventory, building renovations and operating capital, generally to businesses and non-profits that don't qualify for bank loans or other traditional financing sources. Since 1990, when it was founded by members of the state's Conference of Churches, the Fund has made $7.7 million in loans.
