DANTE M. GARCIA is a good example of a man who started from the ground up and never saw limits to what he could accomplish.

He began as an installer repairman and journeyman technician and today owns TeleWest Technologies Inc., in Albuquerque, a full service dealer for business computer and telephone systems.

TeleWest serves businesses throughout New Mexico and across the nation and deals in a wide range of accessories and peripherals related to telephone services. The firm is also the sole authorized dealer for AT&T equipment.

Garcia began as an installer repairman with Bomur Business Systems in 1972, analyzing and repairing defects in communications equipment such as telephone switchboards, microprocessor-based PBXs and electronic key systems.

By 1983, he was a project coordinator with Communications Corporation of America, directing installation of telephone systems and auxiliary equipment for West Coast Hyatt Regency Hotels.

Two years later, he formed Garcia Associates, serving a customer base throughout New Mexico. In 1988, the firm merged with Valcom Computer and Telephone Center with Garcia as majority partner.

The one-time installer purchased the telephone operations a year later to form TeleWest Technologies Inc., with Teleservices formed in 1990 as a division of TeleWest to market AT&T products.

These minority suppliers are a regional source for high tech solutions to business communications problems.

The expertise ranges from small key telephone systems to large networks integrating voice, data and video communications.
