Reclaiming a ghost: several prominent architects conjure up ways to use the old Albuquerque High School

New Mexico Business Journal, Nov, 1996

The third zone is the south end and borders Central Avenue. This is the Mixed Use Zone. Renovating the three remaining classroom buildings and central courtyard. An enterprise zone that can contain housing, offices, retail spaces and outdoor space for markets, performing arts and fairs. This would be developed privately as market conditions allow and changes generate a strong tax base that reinforces the retail on Central Avenue, commercial aspects of downtown and the adjoining neighborhoods.

By looking at three zones that can develop separately or together each with their own set of possibilities, and a clear design for linking them by various modes of transportation to greater Albuquerque, the result is a new town center being created that still respects the scale and history of the location it inhabits.
