El Jefe: mortgage maverick

New Mexico Business Journal, Feb, 1994 by Arlene Cinelli Odenwald

Most mortgage bankers have good strong banking relationships, according to Frost.

"My local banker loves me," he notes. "I run $12 to $15 million a month through my checking account."

Frost talks about what he considers the real competitor in his business.

"It's government borrowing, not banks," he says. "Every time the federal government borrows money to pay off the federal debt, it's taking that money from the available investment pool."

for Frost, being the leading mortgage banker in New Mexico is only the first step. He wants to be the top mortgage banker in the U.S., a tall order.

Frost was recently recognized by Mortgage Banker, a national magazine, as one of the top 25 mortgage originators in America.

"I'm a very lucky man," says Frost. "I make a very good living helping people realize their dreams . . ."
