RiskWatch Inc. today announced that it has been working under contract with the Technical Support Working Group of the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission to create a special version of the RiskWatch software to assess the cybersecurity of nuclear systems.

The Nuclear Energy Institute has been a content contributor to the development effort. The software program will be released to specific industry organizations in October.

"This software will be a tool for the nuclear power industry to use to evaluate their security posture in specific systems and applications," said Jack Roe, spokesman for the NEI. "The NEI has a major role in developing the content and worked with many NEI member organizations in the development and the subsequent pilots."

The RiskWatch for Nuclear Power includes the new Nuclear Energy Institute guidelines contained in the NEI 04-04 Revision 1, "Cyber Security Program for Nuclear Power Reactors."

RiskWatch is a developer of enterprise security risk assessment and compliance software that fully automates the risk management process.
