Norris produced a special nursing documentary, A Passion, A Profession: Nursing in Tennessee, that celebrates the history of nursing, challenges of today, and direction for the future of the nursing profession. During the last year, the documentary was created in association with the Tennessee Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Foundation, Tennessee Center for Nursing, The Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing's Future, and dozens of additional contributors across the state.

The TNA Media Award recognizes a member of the media/publication/network whose work has promoted a positive and professional image of nurses and the nursing profession; contributed to consumer and professional health awareness; highlighted nursing's role in the health care system; and, demonstrated innovation, creativity, and integrity in presenting issues related to nursing and health care. Norris received the award due to positive response to the documentary from nurses, educators and the general public.
Norris holds a bachelor's of arts degree in public relations with a minor in speech from Western Kentucky University. During his years at Western, Norris served as Freshmen Class Vice President, Sophomore Class President, Junior Class President, as well as serving as a student ambassador 'Spirit Master' of the university.
