Nursing home flooded

Lamp, The, July, 2008

A Nambucca Heads nursing home was flooded last month after the North Coast town was hit with more than 230 millimetres of rain.

State Emergency Service workers were called to the Nambucca Valley Care nursing home at 10pm after flash flooding began entering the building.

The home's chief executive, Stephen Richards, told local media that staff and emergency crews dealt with the flooding and there was no need to evacuate the residents.

Other than a late night, the home's 40 residents were unaffected.

The flooding was the result of heavy rain throughout the night compounded by king tides and a four-metre swell.
