Ignited Minds Continues Its Winning Ways, Lands Newegg.com Business

Market Wire, July, 2004

Ignited Minds, an independent advertising agency in Marina del Rey, CA announced today that it has been retained by Newegg.com, an online retailer, as its agency of record following a formal review overseen by Select Resources International. Ignited Minds bested 14 other agencies. Work will include TV, radio, print, and online breaking in early Fall. Media billings are estimated at $10 million. Newegg.com, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Southern California with over 500 employees, is a thriving computer component and consumer electronic e-tailer approaching $1.0 billion dollars in sales.

"At the end of the day their business model is air tight. They've got low prices, a huge selection and the best customer service in the industry," exclaimed Eric Johnson, President of Ignited Minds, "Combine that with a fiercely loyal customer base and Newegg.com is poised for explosive growth. We are honored that they chose Ignited Minds to partner with them during this exciting time."

"Ignited Minds demonstrated a clear understanding of our audience and our brand personality. They over-delivered with smart strategy based on research that came through clearly in their creative," stated Stuart Wallock, Director of Marketing at Newegg.com.

He continued, "I think our cultures mesh very well also. They're a results-focused company, only concerned with putting out the best possible product much like Newegg.com."

An Agency On Fire

True to their name, Ignited Minds has been one of the hottest agencies on the West Coast over the past year having won the Namco Hometek Inc. (video games) business away from J. Walter Thompson (San Jose) in addition to project work from Levi Strauss, Turner Sports (The Atlanta Braves), Loyola Marymount University and 20th Century Fox International. In October 2003, they moved into a new 22,000 sq. foot space in Marina del Rey and currently have 63 full-time staffers. 2004 billings are expected to grow by 50%. "We have great momentum right now and it's not slowing down. I think more and more clients want an agency that has a particular expertise talking to their target audience. We don't claim to be all things to all clients. We know how to talk to who we call "people who play"; high consumers of technology, entertainment, fashion and packaged goods. A group of people who spend a large amount of their disposable income on the newest fashions, video games, PDAs, movies, beverages, etc. They are skeptical, over-exposed and increasingly responsive to non-traditional forms of media."

"We always tell people that we aren't going to be pitching any diaper or dog food accounts any time soon. And I think they're glad to hear that."
