First Biometric IBM Thinkpad Receives TECHXNY Best of Show Award

IBM today announced the ThinkPad T42 notebook with integrated fingerprint reader received the Best of Show award in the Best Security Solution category at New York's Technology Week -- TECHXNY. The Best of Show Awards Program recognizes the most innovative personal technology and corporate IT products, solutions and programs at the event, conducted October 5-7 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
"This award recognizes IBM's focus on PC security," said Deepak Advani, vice president, Marketing and Strategy, IBM Personal Computing Division. "In today's on demand world, security has moved beyond the frequently annoying installation of software patches. It is now a universal issue requiring attention at all levels of business. Only exhibiting companies at New York's Technology Week were eligible to be considered for a Best of Show Award. In order to qualify, companies had to be announcing a new business IT product/solution or demonstrating it for the first time at the event. To decide the award winners, journalists from leading information technology and business outlets reviewed the best of show submissions.
