John Seely Brown Inducted Into 2004 Industry Hall of Fame

Market Wire, November, 2004

Text 100 International, one of the largest global technology public relations consultancies, today announced that one of its key advisors, John Seely Brown, will be inducted into the Industry Hall of Fame. Brown will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for his contributions in digital media while at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC).

As the Director of PARC for more than a decade, and PARC veteran of 24 years, Brown was deeply involved in nurturing and managing radical innovation and in expanding the disciplines of PARC to include anthropologists, sociologists and artists. As Chief Scientist of Xerox Corporation, Brown was deeply involved in the formation of corporate strategy and strategic positioning of Xerox as the Document Company.

Brown thanked CRN for his induction into the Hall of Fame saying, "Innovation is the life blood of this country and it is thus a distinguished honor to be placed in the Hall of Fame amongst such high caliber and influential industry innovators. Above all else, my colleagues over the years must be thanked for breaking the boundaries of conventional thinking and for the courage to venture into unchartered territories when others thought us crazy."

Aedhmar Hynes, CEO of Text 100, added, "John Seely Brown has contributed enormously to the technology industry at large. He has an unusual ability to appreciate the social as well as the technical aspects of innovation and to understand the broad ramifications of technological trends to both business and society. As a long-standing advisor to Text 100, it is our pleasure to acknowledge this well-deserved distinction and celebrate the legacy he has created in the Silicon Valley."

Established in 1997, the Industry Hall of Fame recognizes and honors individuals that have transformed the technology industry with new ideas, revolutionary concepts and ingenious technology. Industry Hall of Fame alumni include legendary leaders of highly recognized companies such as William Hewlett, Andy Grove, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Charles Geschke and Michael Dell; industry renowned engineers and developers such as Philip Zimmermann, Steve Wozniak, Bill Joy, Ray Ozzie and Drew Major; outspoken visionaries such as Steve Ballmer, Larry Ellison, Chip Lacy and Philippe Kahn; and other industry catalysts, such as Douglas Engelbart, Mort Rosenthal, Tim Berners-Lee, Don Estridge, Vint Cerf and Bill Millard.
