OshKosh B'Gosh Says G'Bye to Spam With MailFrontier
Market Wire, December, 2004
MailFrontier(TM), a pioneer in email security and leading provider of anti-spam and anti-phishing solutions, expands its roster of retail customers with the addition of OshKosh B'Gosh. OshKosh, best known as a premier marketer of quality children's apparel and accessories, has selected MailFrontier Gateway(TM) Server, Enterprise Edition for spam protection and policy management. Leading retailers, including Peet's Coffee & Tea and Pier 1 Imports, are already using MailFrontier to protect their companies against email threats such as spam, viruses, phishing and directory harvest attacks.
OshKosh implemented MailFrontier Gateway Server to combat the rising tide of spam flooding the organization's corporate messaging system. OshKosh needed a solution to stop spam from reaching employees and taking up valuable work time -- without losing critical, legitimate emails from customers and business partners. The company was experiencing an inbound spam volume of about 70 percent. The previous anti-spam solution was deleting email that wasn't spam at all, leading to a high false positive rate, and at the same time, unwanted email was still getting into employee email inboxes at an unacceptable volume. Now with MailFrontier Gateway Server, OshKosh experiences no false positives.
"Our employees rely on email to communicate with customers, partners and each other for day-to-day operations within our company, but as an online retailer we are an easy target for spam," says Larry Plamann, director of technical support at OshKosh B'Gosh. "With the constant increase in spam, a reliable, accurate anti-spam solution was critical to maintain efficient retail and wholesale business operations. MailFrontier came highly recommended, and has provided protection against spam, without requiring significant IT management time."
"Facing the rising costs and demands associated with fighting spam, companies should demand reliable, easy-to-use email threat management solutions," said Anne Bonaparte, president and CEO of MailFrontier. "For OshKosh, quickly responding to customers and partners is a requirement, not a luxury. MailFrontier provides the highest level of protection, with tracking capabilities to ensure no email is ever lost."
MailFrontier Gateway Server provides OshKosh with multi-layered protection, eliminating spam and freeing employees to focus on important business activities. OshKosh's previous anti-spam solution required more than 400 policies to be written, with an average of a new one added daily, and requiring 20-30 hours a week of IT staff time to manage -- and it still wasn't catching all the spam. Using MailFrontier, OshKosh now has only eleven policies and spends very little staff time managing the email security solution. "MailFrontier has been extremely low maintenance. I spend virtually zero time managing the system on an average week, allowing me to focus on more important IT activities," added Plamann.
