Savvion CEO Shawn Price Wins Rolex 24-Hours at Daytona International Sports Car Race
Market Wire, February, 2005
Savvion President and CEO, Shawn Price, veteran competitor in a myriad of sports, co-drove the No. 71 Porsche GT3 Cup car to victory on Sunday at the Rolex 24-Hour at Daytona. While the competition in the GT class was filled with experienced racing teams, the No. 71 Farnbacher Racing Porsche GT3 Cup car driven by Price and co-drivers Wolf Henzler, Dominik Farnbacher, and Pierre Ehret held the GT class advantage for much of the race and took the top honors, as well as an impressive 10th-place finish overall. As a driving champion in the GT class, Price and his co-drivers received a coveted specially engraved Rolex Daytona Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph watch.
"It was an incredible experience for me," said Price. "I've only been driving for three years and this was my first professional race. I'm working with one of the greatest teams in the world. Our team is made up of superb drivers, mechanics and crew chief that really helped to get me up to speed quickly. I'm honored to have been trusted with the responsibility by Horst Farnbacher and Peter Goebel from Farnbacher Racing."
Price has been racing at a world-class level in many other sports for most of his life. Until his win at Daytona, Price was probably best known as a motorcycle racer. He finished 4th in the 2002 Baja 500 race in Mexico and followed that up with 1st place in the 2002 Baja 1000. In 2003, Price was the top rider from the Americas to complete the world-famous Paris-Dakar Rally on a motorcycle, riding over 7,000 miles in the grueling African desert in only 19 days.
Born in Ottawa, Canada and brought up in Europe, Africa, Australia and the West Indies, Price has most recently made his mark in high technology, taking three companies from inception to public offerings on the Nasdaq Exchange. Currently President and CEO of enterprise business software market leader Savvion, Inc., Price brings that same drive and determination to his role as CEO having led the company through a 'fast track' growth curve of over 100% in the past 18 months that has raised Savvion to the leader's position in the highly competitive Business Process Management marketplace. This leadership position was recognized this past year by the top 3 industry analyst firms, Forrester, Gartner and META Group who each awarded Savvion their highest ranking amongst a field of dozens of competitors.
"Teamwork, execution, competitive drive and a commitment to excellence are key characteristics of a successful racing team and the same is certainly true of the winning enterprise software business team that we have assembled at Savvion," said Price.
Prior to joining Savvion, Price served as an executive consultant to emerging growth companies and venture capital firms in the definition and delivery of business strategy. From 1997 through 2001 Mr. Price served as Vice President and General Manager of the Americas with Vitria Technology where he led the organization from pre-revenue through successful IPO while managing over 70% of global revenues. Prior to that, Price was a Vice President with Softbank where he held operating responsibilities in the U.S., Asia and Europe. In addition, Price has held a number of key leadership positions with firms including Object Designs, Photonics Networking, Software Publishing Corporation, and Corel Systems. Price lives with his wife and two daughters in Hillsborough, CA.
Price was sponsored by UVEX and CDOC. Photos from the race can be viewed at: http://www.savvion.com/about_savvion/24_hours_at_Daytona.php
