MailFrontier and Narus Bring Email Security to Carrier Network Operators
Market Wire, February, 2005
MailFrontier, Inc., a leader in email security, and Narus®, Inc., the leading Carrier-Class IP Platform software provider, today announced a strategic alliance to provide a joint offering for carrier network operators. The two companies plan to provide a comprehensive email security option that integrates passively and non-intrusively in a carrier's network to address the growing problems associated with spam, phishing and fraud.
Increasingly, network operators need a strategy for detecting and assessing the impact of unmanaged electronic communications on their networks. Using Narus' Carrier-Class IP Platform and MailFrontier's industry leading MailFrontier Gateway anti-spam engine, carriers can take control of email on their network. Carriers will be able to:
-- Detect SMTP, IMAP, and POP3 protocol flows in real time
-- Profile email patterns on a per-customer basis across the network
-- Profile email volumes as known spam, suspicious email and legitimate
traffic
-- Profile email patterns on a peering partner basis between networks
"Narus is committed to helping carriers effectively and productively manage email over their complex networks," said Greg Oslan, president and CEO of Narus. "We are excited to be working with MailFrontier to provide a secure and easy-to-manage solution to thwart the growing volume of unwanted email that is of increasing concern in managing network traffic and operations."
"Email security is reaching a critical state as threats such as spam, phishing and viruses become increasingly sophisticated and effective," added Anne Bonaparte, president and CEO of MailFrontier. "By partnering with Narus, we will be able to offer global network carriers an email security solution unlike anything currently available."
