Palisade Systems Launches First Comprehensive Data Security and Compliance Enforcement Solution

Market Wire, February, 2005

Palisade Systems, a leading provider of network management and security solutions, announced today the release of the Content Surety framework. The framework is one of the most comprehensive content security systems on the market today, and plays a key role in protecting intellectual property and proactively ensuring compliance with security legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and Graham-Leech-Bliley. It constantly inspects, protects, and audits intellectual property to prevent the information from being compromised or shared illegally within and beyond an organization's network.

Many approaches to protecting confidential information only monitor network communications over a few applications and protocols. These tools are purely reactive, after-the-fact products that notify an organization after content has been compromised. The Content Surety framework ensures that content does not leave the organization in the first place. The framework takes an application-independent view of the data that allows it to quickly and accurately identify content as it passes through the network regardless of which application generated the content. Based on Palisade Systems' patented core technology, the Content Surety system identifies and stops sensitive information before it can escape to the outside.

Palisade Systems takes content security one step further by providing internal access control. By establishing network zones, Content Surety can control which applications can communicate with other applications on the network based on digital identities. If an individual has reason to access a network application, then the network should be equipped to monitor and control access. By controlling access to content within the organization, the Content Surety framework further reduces the risk of information leakage and enhances overall protection of confidential data.

The framework also extends this access control to specific data by internal participants on the network based on the actual content being transferred. In this scenario the Content Surety system stops a person from accessing certain content who has need to access an application or host but not all of the content contained within the application or host.

"The Content Surety framework is the only true, all-in-one content security solution on the market," said Kurt Shedenhelm, chief executive officer and president. "The framework provides comprehensive compliance enforcement by preventing intellectual property from leaving an organization. It also provides the reports and forensic evidence necessary to fulfill compliance regulations."
