IP Infusion Announces Availability Of ZebOS(TM) Advanced Routing Suite For PMC-Sierra And Momentum Computer's MIPS-Based Ocelot Family Of CompactPCI(R) System Development Platforms
Market Wire, 20050229
IP Infusion today announced the integration of its ZebOS(TM) Advanced Routing Suite (ARS), the industry's most advanced software development solution designed for networking, communications, and wireless developers, with the MIPS-based Ocelot family of CompactPCI(R) System Development Kit (SDK) platforms co-developed by PMC-Sierra and Momentum Computer. The SDK platforms provide networking developers with high performance, low power, hot-swappable and auto-sensing features required in high-bandwidth communication system applications such as Internet core routers, wireless base stations, xDSL equipment and storage area networks (SAN). ZebOS has a unique modular, scalable architecture that allows OEMs to quickly integrate IP routing and MPLS switching protocols into their platforms.
"We are pleased to announce that our ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite now supports the Ocelot evaluation boards with PMC-Sierra's family of RM7000 MIPS-based processors. PMC-Sierra's processors are an integral part of the embedded networking market," said Nick Keating, president and CEO of IP Infusion. "With our network software fully integrated into PMC-Sierra's and Momentum's evaluation platform, system designers can significantly decrease their time-to-market in new router development. We plan to provide a variety of leading edge routing and switching software integrated with PMC-Sierra's processor solutions."
"By providing readily accessible, fully integrated development platforms designed with PMC-Sierra's 64-bit RM7000 MIPS-based processors, we can help accelerate our customers' time-to-market goals," said Tom Riordan, vice president and general manager of PMC-Sierra's MIPS Processor Division. "Our RM7000 family of MIPS-based processors and IP Infusion's ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite provide embedded networking developers with a high performance, high throughput and cost-effective solution."
Future Software Integration
IP Infusion initially integrated its IPv4 routing suite, including OSPFv2, BGP-4, and RIP, on the PMC-Sierra SDK using WindRiver VxWorks RTOS. This solution has undergone extensive conformance and performance testing using both the Empirix ANVL and IXIA performance tools. In addition, IP Infusion and PMC-Sierra plan future integration of IPv6 routing solutions based on Linux and OSE operating systems later this year.
Availability and Resources
IP Infusion's ZebOS(TM) Advanced Routing Suite is based on an unique, modular, multi-process architecture, which is built around the Network Services Module (NSM). The NSM provides route redistribution and conversion, management services, and an OS/processor abstraction layer for both the routing and switching modules. Protocol Modules for OSPF, BGP, and RIP for IPv4 and IPv6 use the services of the NSM to provide routing table information and updates. MPLS Modules for LDP and the MPLS Forwarder also use the NSM for central management and routing integration. Further information about the Advanced Routing Suite is available from IP Infusion at www.ipinfusion.com.
PMC-Sierra and Momentum Computer have co-developed a variety of packaged systems for software development or for full product development. The Ocelot 6U RM7000 CompactPCI Evaluation Platform features PMC-Sierra's 400 MHz RM7000A(TM) MIPS-based processor. This board provides dual PMC-Sierra slots with up to 512 MB SDRAM and up to 4 M of L3 cache. The Ocelot-G 6U RM7000 CompactPCI Evaluation Platform features PMC-Sierra's 500 MHz RM7000B MIPS-based processor, up to 2 GB SDRAM, 5 Ethernet ports (2 1GB and 3 10/100), PMC slot, and up to 8 MB of L3 cache. The Ocelot family evaluation boards and software development kits are available from PMC-Sierra at www.pmc-sierra.com or from Momentum Computer at www.momenco.com. About IP Infusion Inc.
