J.D. Edwards 5 Field Demos Enhanced With Citrix Technology

Market Wire, 20050229

Citrix Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTXS), a global leader in virtual workplace software and services, today announced that longtime customer J.D. Edwards (NASDAQ: JDEC) is using Citrix(R) MetaFrame XP(TM), Citrix NFuse(R) Classic and Citrix Secure Gateway (CSG) software to provide more product demonstration options to prospects evaluating the recently announced J.D. Edwards 5 collaborative enterprise software.

J.D. Edwards' Worldwide Demonstration System (WDS), a virtual demonstration hosting environment, leverages Citrix technology to allow the company's field operations staff to securely present J.D. Edwards 5 software, like J.D. Edwards ERP 8.0 and other Web-based enterprise applications, from any location, using any device running on a standard browser. The use of Citrix technology eases IT security constraints by making firewall traversal easier, and alleviates the complexities of demonstrating third-party software that may not be designed for the Internet.

"Most of our sales efforts are conducted on the road, so it is imperative that our sales professionals can consistently and securely access the applications they require to conduct business no matter where they may be," said Henry McNally, director, strategic demonstration services for J.D. Edwards. "Citrix's technology gives our field sales staff another option to confidently access the full range of our Web-based enterprise applications from any location regardless of the connection, providing the flexibility and security we need to empower our workforce and maintain a competitive edge."

Citrix Secure Gateway (CSG) protects the J.D. Edwards WDS application as it is being accessed from the field. CSG offers 128-bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption of data transmitted across the public Internet between Citrix MetaFrame XP servers and end-user devices, making firewall traversal easier and protecting J.D. Edwards' corporate assets by providing security while allowing its field sales group total control of their demonstration environments.

"Companies are conducting more and more business outside of the traditional office environment, and need a simple method for accessing applications," said Bruce Cabral, director of global enterprise partner sales for Citrix. "Citrix is offering a true value-add to J.D. Edwards' business, enabling their field operations team to increase productivity levels by having access to the materials they need to make a sale."

Today's announcement represents the latest development in the long-standing relationship between Citrix and J.D. Edwards. In February 2002, J.D. Edwards validated the interoperability of MetaFrame XP with its OneWorld(R) Xe enterprise software, offering customers the ability to increase IT efficiency by simplifying application deployment, management and support.
