InfoWorld Rates Fortinet Network Protection Gateway 9 Out Of 10
Market Wire, 20050229
Fortinet - a provider of network protection systems and the only ICSA-certified, ASIC-based antivirus solution - has earned a 9 out of 10 rating by InfoWorld magazine for its FortiGate 400 Network Protection Gateway (NPG) product. The review recommended that users deploy the FortiGate units immediately, urging "There is no reason to wait. The FortiGates [NPGs] are worth buying for what they can do now."
"Four qualities set FortiGate devices apart from other appliances: speed, cost, expandability and breadth of standard features," InfoWorld wrote. The magazine also praised Fortinet for its scalability calling the FortiGate 400 a "stunning first effort" and adding: "Most exciting is the room Fortinet has reserved for future capabilities. This is not a one-shot appliance that you'll have to replace in a year. It is an extensible platform with lots of room to grow."
"When we set out to develop the FortiGate product line, our vision was to create a new type of network protection platform that would break barriers and set new industry benchmarks," said Richard Kagan, vice president of marketing, Fortinet. "InfoWorld's extremely positive review of the FortiGate 400 NPG is a vindication of our vision, and sends a clear message to those seeking to improve their network protection at an affordable cost. We are thrilled to have earned InfoWorld's strong validation."
The InfoWorld review of the FortiGate 400 illustrates the benefits of an integrated security and productivity platform, extolling Fortinet for producing "an unbelievably affordable, expandable, and powerful little box. If you saw a trade-show demonstration, you'd be looking under the tablecloth for a supercomputer." The overall rating of 9 (out of a possible 10) was based on an analysis covering 10 aspects of the FortiGate NPG. Notably, the FortiGate 400 NPG scored a perfect 10 in the areas of Implementation, Innovation, Scalability, Suitability and Value.
The review of the Fortinet FortiGate 400 is published in the October 28, 2002 issue of InfoWorld and available online at www.infoworld.com.
