United Advertising Publications Selects Marimba to Distribute and Manage Software
Market Wire, 20050229
Marimba, Inc. (NASDAQ: MRBA), the Software Change-Management Company, today announced that UK-based United Advertising Publications (UAP), has selected Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management products to manage its IT operations more efficiently. These Marimba(R) products are being used to distribute software to UAP's PC environment at its Poole headquarters and across 14 national sales offices.
Prior to the installation, UAP's IT department manually upgraded and managed software for its main office. However, a recent increase in the number of remote PCs signaled a need for a more efficient application deployment process for its local and national offices. Having conducted an extensive evaluation of leading software change management solutions, UAP chose Marimba for its ease of use and unobtrusive approach towards application delivery, including the light impact it had on the UAP network.
Steve Barker, IT director at United Advertising Publications, commented, "Thanks to Marimba, we have streamlined the management of software upgrades and have benefited from some cost and resource savings. There was no need to employ more staff to handle our expanding IT administration needs. The software upgrades are now managed remotely and at the touch of a button, so there is no disruption to the end user. As a result, my team no longer needs to spend time and money traveling to dispersed sites to handle IT administration tasks."
Barker added, "From pre-sales through implementation, my technical team has been very impressed by both the solution and the support offered by the highly experienced Marimba team. This is likely to be one of the best investments that the IT department has made."
Adrian Rayner, Marimba's general manager of European sales and operations, commented, "Trying to keep up with IT administration is an ongoing issue for all IT departments. But when this function is manually performed, the process becomes resource-intensive and expensive. Marimba addresses these problems by automating the software change management process. This dynamic approach allows companies like UAP to focus on their core business activities including the delivery of high quality publications rather than having to spend unnecessary time managing IT administration."
UAP is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Business Media plc. From 22 locations around the UK, it produces magazines and Web sites serving a diverse range of trading markets. UAP prints almost 1,000,000 magazines a week -- all designed to help businesses and individuals buy and sell products and services.
