The conference will take place at the Arizona Biltmore, February 13-15, Phoenix, Arizona, and will be co-hosted by Andrew Seybold's Outlook, Forbes, Forbes ASAP, and Wireless Week magazine. Sponsors include Microsoft, Inc., Nortel Networks Corporation, GoAmerica Communications Corporation and Infowave Software, Inc. Invitees are CEOs from the computer, wireless telecommunications, and Internet communities, with attendance limited to 200 participants.
Jain's address, entitled "The Wireless Internet Economy-Developing the Platform for Commerce On Wireless Devices" - will take conference participants behind the large definition portal sites, which are the apparent information sources, to examine what he refers to as the "Information Operating System," the actual assembly/dissemination mechanism for the infrastructure services that are furnished through the portal sites.
Jain, who founded InfoSpace.com in 1996 after spending seven years as group manager of the Microsoft Network, has been widely recognized for his innovative approach to the distribution of information as well as for his technological contributions. Only one year after he formed InfoSpace.com, he was listed among the top 20 entrepreneurs in digital technology by The Red Herring, a magazine for the investment community; and in June, 1999, he was named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year at the 9th annual Ernst & Young Pacific Northwest Entrepreneur of the Year awards ceremony.
"With his extensive networking, Internet, and information sciences experience, Naveen Jain is exceptionally qualified to bring perspective to the interaction between mobile computing, the Internet, and wireless communications," Andrew Seybold said. "He is an innovator who combines global technological vision with the ability to harness that vision for highly specific purposes. The information power that InfoSpace.com provides enhances the value of other, more visible entities, enabling them to better serve the ultimate users of Web-based information.
