HR-XML's "XML Timecard" To Be Demonstrated At APA Congress

Market Wire, 20050229

The HR-XML Consortium, the global independent organization dedicated to creating XML standards for human resources management, will give its first public demonstration of its XML Timecard standard at the 20th Annual American Payroll Association Congress to be held in San Antonio, TX, May 14-18. HR-XML's presentation, titled "It's About Time: XML Timecard Standard," is scheduled May 15 as part of APA's Forum for Payroll Systems Professionals.

"Today, the unfortunate reality is that connecting any two systems to exchange time-worked data requires the creation of custom interfaces between the systems," said Chuck Allen, Director, HR-XML Consortium, Inc. There simply has been no standard means to exchange time-worked data between time-capture, time and attendance, payroll, and HRIS applications. Because HR-XML's Timecard specification supports the transmission of "raw" time-worked data as well as pre-processed, summary data, it is useful in a wide range of data integration scenarios," according to Allen.

The presentation will cover the benefits of integrating systems via open standards, such as HR-XML's timecard standard. The presentation also will feature a demonstration of an exchange between mySAP Human Resources (mySAP HR) (www.sap.com) and Frontline Data (www.frontlinedata.com) using the XML timecard. The demonstration will show how basic set-up information (employee data and information on valid absence types) is passed from mySAP HR to Frontline Data via HR-XML's TimeCardConfiguration schema. Using the set-up information supplied by mySAP HR, Frontline Data then allows these employees to enter their absences using the Web and Interactive Voice Response (IVR). Frontline Data then sends the absence data back to mySAP HR using the HR-XML Time Card format.
