ForeScout Technologies Named One Of "10 Start-Ups To Watch" By Network World

Market Wire, 20050229

ForeScout Technologies, Inc., today announced it was selected by Network World magazine as one of "10 Start-Ups to Watch" in 2002, as reported in today's Network World 200 Signature Series issue. Network World profiles and awards those companies which the editors believe are poised to make their mark in the enterprise network.

In today's issue of Network World (www.nwfusion.com/nw200/2002/startup.html), the newsweekly noted that ForeScout's ActiveScout(TM) security product preemptively stops network attackers before reaching the enterprise network -- without using signature or anomaly detection. The magazine explained how it selected the winners. "These network newcomers have innovative technologies for the hottest markets," and "they edged out the others (90 companies were nominated) for their mixes of technology innovation, market strategy, management experience and financial backing."

"Among the 90 companies we evaluated, we think these 10 network start-ups in particular have the right technologies, management and strategies to make lasting impressions in their target markets," said Beth Schultz, editor, Signature Series. "They operate in promising fields, with distinguished product concepts."

ForeScout addresses several customer needs which include increasing network security, allowing the firewall to dynamically react to real-time threats, and reducing operational expenses by eliminating false positives. ActiveScout enables security managers to focus their limited time and attention on a reduced set of threats and automates the protection of their perimeter as much as possible.

"It's an honor to be recognized within this select group of promising start-ups by a highly respected industry newsweekly like Network World," said Nancy Blair, vice president of marketing at ForeScout Technologies, Inc. "Our ActiveScout security product provides 'Frontline Network Defense' that sits outside the firewall and preemptively stops attackers using both unknown and known attacks. ActiveScout provides automated, real-time protection to enterprise networks from external network threats and attacks."
