Market Wire, 20050229
Consul, a leading global provider of enterprise security event management software, announced today that the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), the largest international, not-for-profit association established specifically for security professionals, named Consul its 2002 Organization of the Year. The award was presented yesterday evening to Consul's vice president of marketing and strategy, Marc van Zadelhoff, during a ceremony at the Grand Hall Olympia in London, England, in front of a large audience of Infosecurity Europe conference attendees.
"We are proud to honor the companies and individuals that have worked hard to promote education and good management practices for information security," said David Cullinane, president of the ISSA. "Consul has a long history of building the esteem of the information security profession, and they have taken a leadership role internationally in defining an industry. With a track record of promoting ideals that match those of the ISSA, the company's place among this year's award winners is well-deserved."
For recognition of an organization's contribution to ISSA and the information security profession, candidates must have provided a sustained, proactive presence that directly contributes to the overall good and professionalism of the association and its membership. This includes providing either services, products and/or direct support that ensures the promotion of the highest ethical standards in addressing information security and its future direction.
"Consul is honored to receive this award, and the peer recognition it represents, from this distinguished group of information security professionals that make up ISSA," said Koen Bouwers, CEO of Consul. "In this difficult business environment, this award is further evidence of the leadership position Consul holds in the security event management space. With record sales momentum and new customers, along with our strengthened international management team with deep security expertise are further evidence that 2002 was our take-off year."
The ISSA's annual awards are presented to individuals and companies that have shown leadership over the last year in advancing the information security profession. The individuals and organizations awarded this year were recognized for their concerted efforts to promote education and good security management practices -- two issues that align very closely with the goals of the ISSA.
