RealNetworks And Mjuice.Com Launch Secure Digital Music Alliance With Exclusive Beck And Foo Fighters Download Promotion

Market Wire, February, 2000

RealNetworks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK), the recognized leader in media delivery on the Internet, and Mjuice.com, Inc., the Web's largest secure-MP3 distributor, today announced an agreement to make Mjuice's catalog of over 30,000 secure music tracks available to more than 23 million RealJukebox™ users. This agreement leverages RealNetworks' flexible RealSystem MP™ architecture to further broaden RealJukebox's support for digital rights management music formats.

As part this initiative, Mjuice.com has developed an add-on software "plug-in" for RealNetworks market-leading RealJukebox, allowing RealJukebox users to seamlessly preview, purchase, download and play secure-MP3 music tracks distributed by Mjuice.com and its affiliate partners using the Mjuice secure system. Beginning today, the Mjuice plug-in is available immediately via the Help- >Check for Update feature in RealJukebox or by downloading Mjuice music files.

To inaugurate the alliance, the companies are working with G.A.S. Entertainment, the industry- renowned artist management company run by John Silva and Gary Gersh, to host an exclusive, free music download promotion for Beck and the Foo Fighters. Starting today, RealJukebox users will be able to download two previously unreleased tracks from Geffen Recording artist Beck and RCA Recording artist Foo Fighters. The tracks include a live version of "Debra," the most-anticipated track from Beck's newly released album Midnight Vultures, and an unreleased acoustic version of the Foo Fighters' smash single "Learn to Fly" from their latest album There is Nothing Left to Lose.

Both tracks are available as secure promotional downloads on Real.com™, Mjuice.com and Alloy.com, the leading teen community Web site who will be integrating the Beck and Foo Fighters downloads into the company's larger promotions with these artists. The tracks can also be downloaded directly from within RealJukebox's Get Music section. In addition to the audio tracks, RealJukebox users will be able to download custom "skins" or faceplates dedicated to Beck and Foo Fighters from RealJukebox Central (www.real.com/rjcentral).

"We are very pleased to be working with Mjuice to provide 23 million RealJukebox users with immediate access to the Internet's largest library of more than 30,000 secure MP3 music tracks," said Dave Richards, vice president, Consumer Products, RealNetworks, Inc. "This agreement is also great news for artists and music publishers as Mjuice digital rights management technology gives them more options for controlling the way their music is distributed online."

"Mjuice's goal is to help music companies deliver their products online in a secure format that works with the best music software on the market," said Arnold Brown, founder and CEO of Mjuice.com. "RealJukebox fits that bill, and we're thrilled to be working with both RealNetworks and G.A.S. Entertainment to bring fans great music which can't be found anywhere else. This is a clear example of one of the great promises of digital music coming true."

RealJukebox, the world's most popular music jukebox software, enables consumers to build and manage extensive digital music collections by recording songs from their CDs or downloading them from the Internet, and play them back from a PC, portable music player or stereo. RealJukebox provides users with a single complete solution for all their music needs by supporting the widest range of popular music formats and music related hardware. Users can also create audio CDs and customize the look of their RealJukebox by selecting from the hundreds of available faceplates or "skins".
