Internet Warms Antique Sales For One Cold Winter Week

Market Wire, 20050229

No doubt a Steuben glass vase or a French Armoire sells best in a real world antique shop where customers can see, smell and touch. But what do antique dealers do when winter comes and real world customers are scarce. A collective of 500 Washington and Oregon antique dealers may have the answer, a giant antique sale on the Internet. The group's third annual www.myantiquemall.com weeklong Internet sale begins this Sunday, January 20th.

The sale is headquartered in Snohomish Washington, a turn of the century agricultural center, which today bills itself as the Antique Capital of the Northwest. The town's former armory, now the Star Center Mall, is a multilevel complex selling furniture, art glass, pottery, jewelry, everything old imaginable. This year's Internet sale features discounts on over 17,000 antiques and includes free shipping to anywhere in the United States.

"It's not our most successful promotion; but, it is the most far-reaching," says myantiquemall.com coordinator, Tim Regan. Past year's sales were to collectors in 32 States and several foreign countries including a porcelain duck to England; a 100 year old cast metal bank to Germany and an early Disney Fantasia figurine to Japan.

Regan says myantiquemall.com is the Internet presence for the 500 Northwest dealers who sell antiques from the former armory in Snohomish, an old Elk's Lodge Building in Centralia Washington; a three story wooden schoolhouse in Lafayette Oregon and a former five and dime store in Seaside Oregon.
