American Eagle Goes All Jet At Toledo With Five Daily Regional Jet Flights To Chicago O'Hare

Market Wire, 20050229

American Eagle, the regional affiliate of American Airlines, today converted the last of its turboprop flights to regional jet service at Toledo, Ohio. The airline now operates the 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 regional jet on all five daily roundtrips between Toledo and Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Toledo is the 27th American Eagle city to have all-jet service.

At O'Hare, Toledo travelers can choose from a combined schedule of 500 American Eagle and American Airlines flights to more than 100 destinations. American offers more international connection opportunities from O'Hare than any other carrier.

The ERJ-145 and the smaller ERJ-135 are the newest regional jets in service today. American Eagle's jets feature plush navy blue leather seats arranged in one row on the left side of the aisle and two on the right, a closet for hanging bags, large overhead bin space and a lavatory spacious enough to fit a baby-changing table.

Powered by two Rolls-Royce turbofan engines, the jets are some of the quietest airplanes in the world and can cruise up to 519 miles per hour at 35,000 feet. The flight deck features the latest in cockpit technology, including an enhanced ground proximity warning system and a dual global positioning satellite navigation system.

American Eagle has orders and options for over 320 regional jets -- more than any other airline. With a combined fleet of nearly 275 jet and turboprop aircraft, American Eagle and its wholly owned Business Express Airlines unit together offer more than 1,700 daily flights to 138 cities throughout the United States, Canada, The Bahamas and the Caribbean.
