American Airlines Announces Change In Travel Agent Commission Rates

American Airlines has changed its travel agent base commission structure, effective January 15, 2000. The changes affect all tickets issued by travel agents in South America and the Caribbean (including Bermuda and the Bahamas) for all domestic and international travel.

The new base commission rate will be six percent (6%). The rate will apply to all tickets issued by travel agents in South America and the Caribbean for all travel on American Airlines and American Eagle.

As of January 1, 2000 the base rate for Central America is six percent (6%).

American will not make any other media comment beyond this announcement. For additional information, travel agents may refer to the Direct Reference System (DRS) of their computer reservations system.
