Market Wire, 20050229
Gonzaga University's office of University Ministry has hired Cherie Peacock as a university minister. A Phoenix native, Peacock has extensive experience in youth ministry and education, both in high school and university settings.
Peacock has a strong background in liturgical music ministry, having sung in a capella and polyphonic choirs. She has worked on music ministry teams in several parishes and Newman Centers. Her community-service background includes a position with Project Gabriel, a crisis pregnancy network that provides financial, medical and spiritual support for women. She has also organized and directed a series of faith-based overseas programs on leadership, including Thomas More in England, a monthlong program for high school students. "We are fortunate to be able to add someone like Cherie Peacock to our team," said John Freeh, director of university ministry. "She is personable and committed, a great role model and teacher, and she is eminently qualified to work with our students and faculty in the mission areas of faith, service and leadership." Peacock, a doctoral student in English literature at the University of Dallas, will begin work later this month. A welcome reception for her, as well as for the other new members of the University Ministry team, will take place sometime in October. For more information, call John Freeh at (509) 323- 4242.
