North Kansas City High School Junior Wins Prestigious National Award Sponsored By Executive Women International(R)

Micah Kubic, a junior at North Kansas City High School in North Kansas City, Missouri, competed against over 700 students from across the United States to place first in the competitive and prestigious Executive Women International Scholarship Program contest.
Named as one of Money Magazine's "Top 12 Best Buys" in college scholarships, the Executive Women International Scholarship Program is approved by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the American Vocational Association. Students are nominated by their schools to participate in the scholarship competition. Judges select winning students based on their scholastic achievement, leadership qualities, good citizenship and extra-curricular activities. In 2000 the Executive Women International Scholarship Program awarded nearly $184,000 to students all over America, from Hawaii to New York.
Created to encourage and assist high school juniors who planned on pursuing a professional career in college, the Executive Women International Scholarship Program's first place award of $10,000 will help Kubic pursue his dream of getting a degree in political science. Eventually, Kubic wants to become a congressional aide or have a career in international relations.
Susan Li, Lake Oswego High School (Lake Oswego, Oregon) placed second in this year's competion. She will receive a $6,000 scholarship. Placing third with a $4,000 scholarship was Ann-Haley White, Christ Presbyterian Academy (Nashville, Tennessee). Finalists for the competition receiving $2,000 scholarships were Adam Hawkins, Martinsville High School (Martinsville, Indiana), Rekha Nair, Mountain View High School (Mesa, Arizona) and Susan Su, Grafton High School (Yorktown, Virginia).
