CIW Program Surpasses 10,000 Certificate Milestone
Market Wire, 20050229
ProsoftTraining.com (Nasdaq: POSO) today announced that it has issued more than 10,000 Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) certificates. This milestone highlights the rapid growth and acceptance of the internationally recognized credential for Internet professionals.
"CIW has quickly become an important certification program for us, particularly internationally," noted S. Neil Crocker, General Manager of the VUE testing division of Minnesota-based NCS Pearson, which administers CIW and other certification exams in more than 100 countries. "Very few IT certifications ramp as quickly as CIW has, and we look forward to sharing in the program's success as it continues its impressive growth."
Jerry Baird, chairman and chief executive officer of ProsoftTraining.com said, "Passing the 10,000-certificate threshold is a key indicator that a certification program has achieved broad market acceptance and recognition. Like certifications from Microsoft, Cisco and Novell, the broader the market acceptance, the more valuable the certification is to those who earn it."
The milestone CIW certificate was awarded to Wolfgang Sauer from Weisweil, Germany. Sauer worked for more than a decade as a geologist in Germany. When opportunities in geology grew scarce, Sauer decided to participate in a German National Employment Agency re-training program for technical career advancement. Through the program, he attended CIW preparatory classes as a way to launch himself into an Internet-related career.
"The chances of finding a good IT job are much better than finding one in geology," Sauer said. "I've been connected to the Internet for two years, so I was interested in concentrating on Internet technologies. Training is important to companies, and having the CIW certification will help me get the kind of job I want."
Sauer prepared for the exam by attending a CIW training course offered by DITEC, a large CIW Authorized Training Provider in Germany. Sauer was issued the certification after completing the CIW Foundations course and passing the corresponding examination, which earned him CIW Associate status. He plans to continue CIW training and will work toward completing the Master CIW program. Sauer said he would like to work in a large company after he completes his training.
Baird continued, "Credit must be given to the hundreds of CIW Authorized Training Providers around the world that have trained the majority of CIW-certified individuals."
