Online-Learning Announces New Series Of Online Information Design Courses For Writers, Designers And Web Professionals
Market Wire, 20050229
Online-Learning (OLL), a leader in the development and delivery of online courses for technical writing, information design and single-source authoring professionals, announced a new series of online Information Design courses. The courses provide students with the unique ability to receive training in multiple core Information Design skills. Courses are offered in the areas of graphic design, technical writing, single-source documentation, screen layout, web client-server scripting, human-computer interaction design and web-based training design. The courses have been approved through Carleton University's Sprott School of Business Professional Development Division. Carleton University is Canada's 8th ranked university.
Courses cost between $249 and $499 US and take between four and twelve weeks to complete. They are taught by industry experts using a proven mentored-learning model. The model has helped OLL achieve student completion rates of over 80%. The model combines the mentoring power of traditional classroom training with the communications convenience of the Internet.
Using the model, students work through course materials, interactive quizzes and assignments at their own pace. When they have questions, they have fast, convenient access to expert instructors via one-on-one email, scheduled chat sessions and monitored discussion boards. Depending on the length of the course, students must complete between three and five instructor-marked assignments. The assignments provide students with an opportunity to practice the new skills they are learning. To receive a certificate, students must average 70% on the assignments.
The courses address the need for 'multi-skilled' Information Design professionals. Today, businesses must recruit and hire teams of writers, designers, programmers and human factors specialists in order to implement online information solutions. In the future, OLL believes corporations will be looking to hire 'multi-skilled' Information Designers in order to reduce costs, shrink timeframes and streamline project management.
With over 25 years of past experience in distance education technologies, OLL has been delivering courses over the Internet since 1995. OLL courses couple high-quality content with a proven mentored-learning model and university certification.
