Internationally Acclaimed Kickboxing Legend Don "The Dragon" Wilson to "Kick" Things Up With Film Showcase of "Red Sun Rising" at 2003 Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival
Market Wire, 20050229
A three-time triple threat multiplies to equal nine times the fun for the 9th annual Temecula Valley International Film & Music Festival (TVIFMF). Three-time World Kick-Boxing Champion, Official Karate Magazine's three-time 'Fighter of the Year' and three different World weight divisions titlist, Black Belt Magazine's Hall of Famer, Don "The Dragon" Wilson, will join British Director, Francis Meahy at the festival's "Red Sun Rising" screening Saturday, September 13th, 2003, at 1 p.m. in Theatre 2-V of the Movie Experience 10 at Tower Plaza (25735 Ynez Road) in Temecula.
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the film "Red Sun Rising," the film's lead actor, Wilson, and Director, Meahy, will share how different the approach to martial arts stunt fighting was 10 years ago in comparison to the loaded special effects in all the new action movies' martial arts/fight sequence choreography ("Matrix," etc). "Red Sun Rising" contains real fighting sequences carefully choreographed in true martial arts fashion, featuring authentic raw karate moves -- not computer generated ones... a refreshing flashback for filmmaking and martial arts enthusiasts!
Wilson, an actor, action star, producer and writer in his own right, has starred in 24 films and has had as many as five films released simultaneously in a fourteen-month period. His lengthy film credits include the "Bloodfist" series of films I-VIII, "Batman Forever," "The Prophet," "Moving Target," and "Redemption." He also continues to appear at various LIVE events and seminars while continuing his career in film.
Slated for September 10-14, 2003, TVIFMF is continuing the tradition of presenting cutting-edge educational, informational industry-insider workshops and unique filmmaker showcases. TVIFMF will continue the annual tradition of 12-hour day screenings of short films, documentaries, student films and the latest works from emerging filmmakers and cinematographers from all around the world and will additionally highlight a special Italian Showcase from their new sister-festival alliance partnership with Rome Independent Film Festival.
TVIFMF's 5-day slate of activities include: Opening Night Festivities inclusive of a film screening and post-screening party; daily and nightly filmmaker/musician receptions along with screenings from 11 a.m.-11 p.m; a special American Film Institute (AFI) showcase; A Martial Arts Showcase featuring technology advancement analysis over the past decade.; a music competition featuring a platinum prize recording package; a Saturday Black Tie Awards Gala featuring Lifetime Career Achievement honorees, Actress Diane Ladd, Actor John Spencer, R&B Music Artist Etta James, Paramount Pictures Producer A.C.
