USC Family Business Program Honors Legendary Trojan Coach Rod Dedeaux & Family for Entrepreneurial Successes

The Family Business Program at the University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business, in cooperation with the Los Angeles Business Journal, honored Dart International, the distribution company founded by long-time USC baseball coach Rod Dedeaux, at the 3rd Annual Family-Owned Business Award Luncheon at Hollywood & Highland's The Annex this afternoon.

Dedeaux and his son Terry accepted the Longevity Award, bestowed on established companies with a history of success.

With the Family-Owned Business Awards, the USC Family Business Program and Los Angeles Business Journal recognize top family-owned businesses in Los Angeles County for their outstanding professional and community achievements.

Rod Dedeaux founded Dart International in 1938, hauling canned goods and produce from Northern California to the Southern California market. Today, operations encompass transportation, warehousing, facilities management, fulfillment management, and e-commerce in California, Colorado, New York, Kentucky, Texas, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii.

In his 45-year tenure at USC, Rod Dedeaux lead the Trojans to an unprecedented 11 national titles, 28 conference championships and an overall record of 1,332-571-11, for a superb .699 winning percentage. He was named Coach of the Year six times by the College Baseball Coaches Association and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1970. Collegiate Baseball magazine proclaimed Dedeaux NCAA Division I Coach of the Century.

Son Terry Dedeaux also served as a USC coach.
