American Arium Offers Debug Solution for the Intel(R) IOP333 Processor

Market Wire, March, 2005

INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM -- American Arium, an industry leader in hardware-assisted development tools, today announced support for the Intel® IOP333 processor, Intel's newest storage solution for Intel XScale® and ARM®-architecture boards. Arium's latest hardware-assisted debug tools include high-performance run control and Linux OS awareness for all Intel XScale technology-based processors.

"American Arium has provided advanced and unique debug solutions for Intel XScale processors for some time now," said Jeff Acampora, vice-president, Arium Sales & Marketing. "Just as Intel continues to expand its offerings to the microarchitecture world, Arium works to provide software and firmware developers with ever better debug tools designed to meet customers' specific needs."

Acampora was referring to the company's SourcePoint 6.1.1 software interface and LC-500 run control JTAG emulator. A key feature of the debug solution is improved Linux OS aware capability, offering a rich set of features for both the debugging of Linux kernel code and task-level debugging of Linux processes. SourcePoint debugs Linux kernel modules that are both relocatable and dynamically loaded, an industry first. The announcement follows another industry innovation: SourcePoint's ability to debug a Linux platform from reset through OS boot, even on "headless" targets, a feature announced in the third quarter of 2004.

Arium's debug solutions incorporate state-of-the-art functionality to support Intel XScale I/O, application, network, and control plane processors. With SourcePoint and the LC-500, developers get exceptional visibility to code via a series of intuitive screens and dialog boxes with numerous viewing options, SourcePoint(TM) IDE (Integrated Development Environment) powered by Visual SlickEdit®, and XScale trace. The emulator offers JTAG frequency up to 20 MHz, download speeds greater than 200 K/Bytes per second, USB connectivity, and a form factor that minimizes desktop real estate.

The Intel IOP333 is a highly integrated I/O system on a chip with an application accelerator for RAID 6 for RAID on Motherboard and I/O-intensive storage, networking, and communications applications. The IOP333 features an 800 MHz CPU, high-performance internal bus, dual ported memory controller, high-bandwidth PCI Express* to PCI-X* Bridge, and an improved interrupt controller to provide a high-performance, highly integrated processor solution.

The Arium LC-500 emulator with SourcePoint 6.1.1 is available now. SourcePoint 6.1.1 also runs on the Arium SC-1000A emulator. Contact American Arium for the latest updates.
