Ipswitch, Inc. Partners With Mail-Filters.com to Provide Groundbreaking Anti-Spam Technology to Ipswitch Collaboration Suite
Market Wire, March, 2005
Ipswitch, Inc., the leading developer of network management, messaging and file transfer solutions for small and medium businesses, today announced a partnership with Mail-Filters.com, Inc. to provide even stronger anti-spam technology in the company's premier messaging product, Ipswitch Collaboration Suite (ICS).
Like all of Ipswitch's solutions, ICS is designed to meet the unique technology requirements of small and mid-sized businesses (SMB). The suite includes an e-mail server that is ideal for offices with just a few workers or hundreds, secure instant messaging that encrypts all messages for an extra level of security, and server-based shared calendaring capabilities and free/busy features that integrate with the Microsoft Outlook® client. All of the capabilities are protected by carrier-grade anti-virus technology.

ICS Premium Anti-Spam will further enhance the current anti-spam protection in ICS by implementing Mail-Filters' unique anti-spam technology, yielding the most accurate and comprehensive solution on the market today. Mail-Filters' technology is virtually immune to spammer tricks -- embedded content spam, HTML spam, and foreign language spam -- and does not generate false positives.
"Small and medium-sized businesses have limited resources and do not have the time to contend with a constant barrage of spam," said Alex Neihaus, vice president of marketing at Ipswitch. "With ICS Premium Anti-Spam, SMB IT administrators need only turn on spam protection to benefit from this remarkable anti-spam technology that includes a unique human element. We are excited to partner with Mail-Filters to combine their technology with our solution to further support our commitment to providing the most effective solutions to the SMB market."
ICS Premium Anti-Spam leverages Mail-Filters' most powerful anti-spam weapons: the Mail-Filters StarEngine and the Bullet Signature Database.
The Mail-Filters StarEngine (Spammer Tricks Analysis and Response) is adept at identifying spammer tricks by spotting suspicious misspellings and other unique spam-identifying characteristics. The technology is tuned to look for very specific tricks and ignores general factors that can generate false positives.
The Bullet Signature Database is a collection of spam profiles handcrafted by human editors that identify spam messages that have been sent and are likely to be sent in the future. Bullet Signatures give ICS Premium Anti-Spam the unique capability to eliminate spam in over 30 languages. Both technologies are available to ICS Premium Anti-Spam users via a single checkbox, which, once activated, delivers maximum accuracy in controlling spam with almost zero effort.
"Fighting spam is a seemingly never-ending battle that can leave administrators and end users extremely frustrated," said Daniel Ashby, senior vice president of Mail-Filters. "With ICS, Ipswitch has proven its commitment to fighting spam. We're pleased to have joined forces with a messaging leader like Ipswitch to address the spam issue and meet head-on the unrelenting assaults of spammers."
Mail-Filters technology will be offered in the ISP and Premium editions of ICS Release 2, which are scheduled to be available in April 2005. Current ICS Premium and ISP edition customers will receive ICS Premium Anti-Spam as part of their Ipswitch Service Agreements.
