Independence Air Tells Spam to Take Off With MailFrontier
Market Wire, March, 2005
MailFrontier(TM), a leader in email security, today announced Independence Air, a new East Coast-based low-fare airline, has selected MailFrontier Gateway(TM) Server to protect the company's 4,300 employees from growing volumes of spam and phishing email. Independence Air selected MailFrontier for its effectiveness, ease-of-use and performance.
Independence Air was experiencing an inbound spam volume of about 65 percent, impairing employee and IT productivity, and requiring employees to manually weed out hundreds of unwanted emails each day. Since phishing attacks against individuals and corporate networks are also on the rise, Independence Air wanted to stop all phishing emails before they reached employees. The airline considered a number of software and hardware solutions and selected MailFrontier for its reliability, reporting features and zero burden on IT. MailFrontier has been 99 percent effective at blocking spam, stopping more than 23,000 daily inbound spam emails at the perimeter, so they never reach an employee's inbox.
"We needed something to guard our network against the growing risks to email, and it had to be easy to manage," said Miguel Sian, systems engineer for Independence Air. "We were able to install and configure the MailFrontier system in less than an hour. Ongoing management is minimal, allowing us more time to support important customer-related projects. If that's not enough, the ROI so far has been great, with $264,000 saved in the first three months."
Because operational needs can vary by user, MailFrontier allows Independence Air employees to customize their own spam control preferences. According to Rick DeLisi, an Independence Air email user and director of corporate communications, "Since we're still rolling out in new markets as part of the largest-ever launch of new low-fare service in the history of the airline business -- with 40 new markets online in the span of less than nine months -- email communications are critical. Before we installed MailFrontier, 50 percent of my inbox was spam. I don't mind getting 100 emails a day, as long as they're from our customers, media partners and other people with whom we really want to communicate. Now, I can say goodbye to all the spammers with a single 'delete' and spend more time promoting our airline."
"Unwanted email continues to threaten business communications and dilutes employee productivity," said Anne Bonaparte, president and CEO of MailFrontier. "As a new service-based business, it is critical for Independence Air to respond to customers and business partners in a timely manner. MailFrontier provides protection without compromise, including customization for every user's individual requirements."
MailFrontier Gateway Server provides unparalleled protection, control and performance guarding the perimeter of Independence Air's corporate network against the growing threats to business email. Unlike other email security solutions, only MailFrontier leverages all major LDAP types to enable effortless group and user-level flexibility while retaining complete IT control. MailFrontier combines best-of-breed email security protection with effortless management and high performance to ensure enterprises like Independence Air get a "no compromise" solution to easily and effectively secure their email networks.
