Liquid Machines and Microsoft to Co-Host Corporate Governance and Sarbanes-Oxley Seminars
Market Wire, March, 2005
Liquid Machines, the leading provider of Enterprise Rights Management (ERM) solutions, today announced its participation in a number of upcoming Corporate Governance & Sarbanes-Oxley Best Practice seminars with Microsoft. Representatives from Microsoft and Liquid Machines will be joined by Nick Akerman, a partner and co-chair of the Computer Fraud & Abuse group at Dorsey and Whitney, to discuss how Enterprise Rights Management solutions can help organizations get and stay compliant with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other corporate governance regulations.
The effects of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act reach beyond safeguarding the financial reporting process to improving corporate governance. The New York Stock Exchange issued corporate governance rules in November 2004 that mandate information controls to ensure confidential information remains confidential, protect intellectual property, and comply with regulations. In addition, the lack of controls can create material events when intellectual property is stolen or regulations are violated.
"Protecting company information is no longer an option, it is required by law. In order to meet today's corporate governance standards, organizations must ensure information is used appropriately and be in a position to prove theft," said Nick Akerman, a Partner and Co-Chair of the Computer Fraud & Abuse group at Dorsey and Whitney. "Identifying and eliminating computer fraud is necessary for companies to reduce the risk and impact of material events."
"We have received positive feedback from our customers regarding Liquid Machines' solutions and we hope these seminars provide a forum for learning more about leveraging technology to address these issues," said Jamie Harper, Business & Marketing Officer at Microsoft.
The Liquid Machines and Microsoft Corporate Governance Seminar Series begins April 1 in Tampa, Florida. If you are interested in attending this seminar or a seminar in your area, send an email with "Liquid Machines - Microsoft SOX Seminar" in the subject line to info@liquidmachines.com. "We are pleased to be working with Microsoft to educate customers about how Enterprise Rights Management helps companies meet regulatory guidelines and protect intellectual property," said Ed Gaudet, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Liquid Machines.
