Muze(R) Stages Exclusive Preview of Aimee Mann's New Album "The Forgotten Arm"
Market Wire, April, 2005
Muze, the leading provider of retailing services and entertainment information, today announced an agreement with SuperEgo Records, the self-owned recording label for singer and songwriter, Aimee Mann, to preview her latest CD, "The Forgotten Arm." Fans of Mann's music will be able to go to the website of any MuzeTunes customer and preview the entire album for free, one month before its scheduled release date on May 3, 2005.
MuzeTunes customers will stream complete tracks from the CD from April 5th until May 2nd on their websites, allowing fans to listen to the entire album for free before the CD is available for purchase. Through this agreement, Muze is providing yet another creative merchandising element to its MuzeTunes customers, which include Best Buy, CD Universe, Hastings, Tower Records and Virgin, among others. Not only will the preview drive traffic to the participating websites, but it will also encourage those visitors unfamiliar with Aimee Mann to discover and explore her music.
"Muze is constantly looking for creative ways to add rich and unique content to our products which are used by hundreds of clients and accessed by millions of consumers," said Paul Zullo, founder and CEO of Muze. "We are thrilled to be working in this innovative fashion with SuperEgo Records to bolster the visibility of Aimee Mann and her impressive collection of music."
In a unique collaboration between a record company and an entertainment content provider, SuperEgo Records first partnered with Muze for the release of Mann's last album, "Lost in Space," in 2002. The album went on to sell over 30,000 units in the first week and was the number one independent record and the number one Internet record of the week.
"Aimee Mann views the relationship with Muze as an exciting way to reach out to her fans on a much larger scale," said Michael Hausman, Mann's manager and co-founder of SuperEgo Records. "Our ultimate goal at SuperEgo Records is to produce quality music and get it into the hands of those who appreciate the passion and creativity behind it. Audio streaming on the Internet is a perfect complement to traditional radio for releasing the album."
The first single from "The Forgotten Arm," "Going Through the Motions" will be at AAA radio in late March.
