PC Tools(TM) Joins Industry-Wide Fight Against Spyware With Anti-Spyware Coalition
Market Wire, June, 2005
PC Tools, creator of award-winning spyware removal and real-time protection software, has joined the Anti-Spyware Coalition, a newly formed industry group that will work to better define spyware and develop best practices for software development.
The coalition is run by the Washington, DC-based Center for Democracy and Technology, and consists of anti-spyware vendors, consumer groups, Internet service providers (ISPs), computer manufacturers, academic leaders and related advocacy groups.
Spyware and adware infections can cause problems for PC users ranging from slow Internet access and unusual computer problems to banking and identity theft. Having a consistent definition of what constitutes spyware or adware may help software makers to improve their products and ultimately help PC users to minimize infection from spyware applications.
