LynuxWorks Extends Support for AMCC Processors With BlueCat Linux Support for the PowerPC(R) 440EP Processor

LynuxWorks(TM) Inc. today announced the availability of its BlueCat® Linux® embedded operating system for the Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) (NASDAQ: AMCC) PowerPC® 440EP processor. Based on the Linux 2.6 kernel, BlueCat Linux is designed to provide a stable embedded operating system (OS) and deliver the flexibility and cost benefits of open source software for a wide range of embedded systems and applications. The PowerPC 440EP embedded processor from AMCC offers exceptional performance, design flexibility, and robust features geared to demanding imaging, industrial control, networking and other embedded applications. With speeds of up to 533MHz, PowerPC Book E architecture, and a rich peripheral mix, PowerPC 440EP processors are ideally suited for a wide range of high-performance applications. The 440EP features state-of-the-art peripherals including DDR SDRAM, and extensive connectivity via Ethernet, USB, UARTs, IIC, SPI and PCI.

BlueCat Linux for the PowerPC 440EP offers developers a commercial embedded Linux software environment where a balance of high performance and low power are needed for the most intensive computing environments, including applications within the digital imaging, telematics and industrial automation markets.
