LynuxWorks(TM) Inc. today announced the availability of its BlueCat® Linux® embedded operating system for the Applied Micro Circuits Corp. (AMCC) (NASDAQ: AMCC) PowerPC® 440EP processor. Based on the Linux 2.6 kernel, BlueCat Linux is designed to provide a stable embedded operating system (OS) and deliver the flexibility and cost benefits of open source software for a wide range of embedded systems and applications. With speeds of up to 533MHz, PowerPC Book E architecture, and a rich peripheral mix, PowerPC 440EP processors are ideally suited for a wide range of high-performance applications.
