Butler International Opens New Engineering and Technology Development Center at Purdue Research Park
Market Wire, July, 2005
Butler International Inc. (NASDAQ: BUTLE) will showcase the Company's newest, state-of-the-art engineering and technology development center today (Thursday, 7/14) during an open house at Purdue Research Park in West Lafayette, IN.
Following months of operating from temporary space within the park primarily in support of Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, the Butler Engineering and Technology Development Center now occupies 11,000 square feet in the newly renovated and renamed Ross Enterprise Center, a 111,000-square-foot research park building formerly used for warehousing and manufacturing.
The building facelift was part of collaborative recruitment efforts by Purdue Research Foundation, Indiana Economic Development Corp. (formerly the Indiana Department of Commerce), and the Lafayette/West Lafayette Economic Development Corp. As part of the incentive package, the City of West Lafayette financed the renovation of the structure to the tune of approximately $4.1 million, which is owned by the foundation; Tippecanoe County provided recruitment and relocation grants that were instrumental in bringing Purdue graduates back to Indiana; and the state provided training dollars through the Skills Enhancement Fund.
The event will include tours of the facility preceded by remarks from Edward M. Kopko, Butler's Chairman and CEO; Lauren Napier, Sikorsky's Engineering Director of Vehicle Definition and Integration; Martin C. Jischke, President of Purdue University; Joseph B. Hornett, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and COO of the Purdue Research Foundation; and Jan Mills, Mayor of West Lafayette.
"We have received continual support from the state of Indiana as well as everyone at Purdue University and the Purdue Research Park," said Kopko. "It is wonderful to be a part of the Lafayette/West Lafayette community, and we are pleased to be able to pass the benefits of the community and state support onto our clients."
Butler's new center features expansion capacity for up to 240 engineering and technology employees and can accommodate multiple customers in secured, keycard-accessible and firewall-protected areas. Butler's in-house premier engineering, design, drafting, technology and support services give customers the ability to outsource engineering, drafting, design and legacy drawing conversion projects to a team of dedicated design and engineering professionals that are trained and recognized as experts in CATIA, Pro/E, Unigraphics and AutoCAD software packages, analytical tools and interactive product simulation applications.
President Jischke said today's celebration was about more than a great company locating in West Lafayette. "This is an important step into the future for Lafayette, West Lafayette and all of Indiana," Jischke said. "Just as our community is benefiting from an influx of these kinds of technology-based companies, they too can benefit greatly from being in a very dynamic Lafayette/West Lafayette community close to the cutting-edge interdisciplinary research taking place at Purdue today."
Butler International has other engineering design centers located throughout the United States and abroad, including offices in Lafayette and Fort Wayne, IN.
Ross Enterprise Center was named after David Ross, a Purdue alumnus and accomplished inventor who provided financial support for the construction of the university's Ross-Ade Stadium.
