Finisar's New 4.25 Gb/s CWDM SFP Transceiver for MANs Enables Disaster Recovery and Real-Time Data Mirroring
Market Wire, September, 2005
Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ: FNSR), a technology leader and pioneer in gigabit fiber-optic solutions for high-speed data and telecommunication networks, today announced a new 4 gigabit-per-second coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) small form factor pluggable (SFP) transceiver for metropolitan area networks. The Company will demonstrate the 4 Gb/s CWDM SFP at the European Conference and Exposition on Optical Communications (ECOC) being held September 26-28 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Finisar's new 4Gb/s CWDM SFP transceiver is available in eight wavelengths for data links up to 20 kilometers. The transceiver transmits both Gigabit Ethernet and 1x/2x/4x Fibre Channel at temperatures from 0 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius. In addition, the transceiver is RoHS compliant and lead free. It includes Finisar's patented digital diagnostics technology, for real-time monitoring of transceiver and network operating conditions.
"In the past year Finisar has released a number of new WDM transceivers. The new SFP builds on that innovation and expands our market leading transceiver portfolio in both 4 Gb/s and CWDM transceivers," said Atikem Haile-Mariam, product marketing manager for WDM transceivers at Finisar. "Equipment manufacturers will use this transceiver to empower their customers' implementation of 4 Gb/s disaster recovery and real-time data mirroring solutions."
