eSP's Stay-Linked Validated by Symbol Technologies Solutions Validation Program
Market Wire, October, 2005
eBusiness Solution Pros, Inc. (eSP) announced that its award-winning Stay-Linked(TM) thin-client software solution for wireless terminal environments has been successfully co-validated through Symbol's new Solutions Validation Program. The first solution to be tested and validated through the program, Stay-Linked provides centralized, secure and high-performance RF/wireless access to 5250/3270 and VT100/220 host-based screen applications using a wide range of RF/wireless terminal devices from Symbol and other manufacturers.
Symbol and eSP jointly tested Stay-Linked Version 7 at Symbol's Solutions Center located in Holtsville, N.Y. Validation test routines were performed on several Symbol handheld mobile computing devices that were connected to a Symbol wireless infrastructure. Symbol's Mobility Services Platform (MSP) server was used to rapidly deploy Stay-Linked thin-client software to the test devices.
Stay-Linked performed as documented for all device, application, host server platform and terminal emulation combinations in a variety of typical customer usage scenarios. Verification of terminal session connectivity and functionality with a Manhattan Associates Warehouse Management host application instance through an Internet VPN (virtual private network) connection was also successfully validated.
"Symbol's Solutions Validation Program enables partners to validate their mobility solution on Symbol products, including MSP, to reduce both the risk level and the time to deployment for the customer," said Verlin Youd, Symbol vice president and general manager of Symbol's Solutions Division. "Validating eSP's Stay-Linked is a valuable step that gives increased assurance that the solution works right from the start."
The Stay-Linked solution is based on eSP's unique Client2Host architecture. With Client2Host, all terminal emulation and client device/session control runs natively on the application host system where the Telnet server resides, with only a thin-client software component loaded on each wireless terminal device. The Stay-Linked Administrator GUI application provides Advanced Terminal Session Management capabilities, allowing centrally deployed IT/Support staff to view and control host-based wireless terminal user sessions in real time. When temporary disruptions in wireless device-to-host access occur, as soon as access is restored, users are automatically returned to their original wireless session -- the exact same screen and cursor location.
Stay-Linked is actively marketed and sold through a channel of solutions-oriented Stay-Linked Certified Partner resellers, most of which are also Symbol PartnerSelect partners. The software, which can be obtained via secure online download from eSP's corporate Web site (www.stay-linked.com), installs quickly and easily and is offered fully functional on a no-charge, 30-day evaluation basis.
"The availability of a Symbol-authored report detailing the test process and validated results of Stay-Linked's unique functionality will be a true sales enabler for our joint channel of wireless solution resellers," said Mike Pagani, eSP's vice president of sales and marketing. "Symbol granting us the use of the SymbolPLUS Validated logo for Stay-Linked provides a strong level of confidence for enterprises seeking to take advantage of the combined solution of Symbol devices and Stay-Linked software. Stay-Linked's now-validated compatibility and complementary functionality with Symbol's MSP will definitely be leveraged by our joint strategic partners when engaged in competitive solution-selling situations."
